Connection Heals the Soul

Dear Mom,

October can get long.

It is full. The light fades fast from the sky. It is getting colder. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the routine and not connect, face to face with a friend for weeks.

And there may not be a chance.

It used to be built in. At least every week you used to updose at in the clinic at Bless You and the smiling staff welcomed you in, reminding you that you were a hero. Now you have to make it happen, to fight for connection.

Go ahead and be daring. Invite someone new to visit your home. Make a plan to meet at the library. Go to BYAA for a follow up appointment and catch up. Swap stories with a friend in the same room, not just pictures and captions on a phone. Those just can’t fill the empty spot inside.

You need to know, Mom, you are not alone.
