Self Care isn’t Selfish

Dear Mom,

My sister-in-law is always reminding me that you can’t pour from an empty cup. I forget. Often. Do you? Taking time for yourself seems like it is time away from your family and your pile of responsibilities. Right? I have heard that accusing inner voice too. But if you love them, you want to give them the best version of you, not a tired, bedraggled, victim you.Close your eyes and dream for a minute. Where is it you want to run away to sometimes? What are you doing, hearing, feeling?

Ok, reality check: a month on an exotic island may not be realistic, but sometimes a walk alone, a nap, a cup of tea and a book, a bath without anyone knocking is all you need. Maybe it is an outing with a friend to shop or get your nails done. But please, this month, challenge yourself to get creative and plan some time for it. You are important!
