Happy Mother’s Day
Who decided to put Mother’s Day in May?
Someone guilty about all the busy-ness Moms had going that month, I guess. But is sure wasn’t a mother! School is finishing up. There are graduations and recitals and award dinners and communions and thank you gifts to gather up for teachers and summer to prepare for. Who would want to add another blasted thing?!
But if you are blest enough to have a family that wants to pamper you in any way, take the moment. Let them bring you breakfast in bed, or some wildflowers held in a chubby fist. We need to pause in all this rushing to a finish. We need to cherish the very thing we are racing about to celebrate. That time moves on and we cannot freeze it.
You are a mother and these days with our children are precious gifts. Let them mess up the kitchen trying to make you a feast. Let them smear paint across your nails. Efficiency be hanged! Soak up the imperfect attempts to delight you. In all the racing of this year and this month, perhaps it was wise to stick in a day for us.
You are unrepeatably special!
