Spread Love

I think Mary Kay Ashe said we should imagine everyone is holding a sign up that says “Love me”.

I once tried an experiment like that in college.  Remember that classic elementary school prank, the “Kick Me’ post-it on someone’s back?

I scribbled, “tell me I’m awesome” onto a sticky note and patted a new friend on the back. His day … and his life changed.

All day long, folks came up and told him how incredible he was. We were all laughing and loving his bewildered expressions. He was a fine person, but never before had some many people taken the time to mention it to him.  It made such a deep impression that it really did change the direction of his entire life.

When he found out who started the prank, he wrote to me and I have kept that card ever since. I had no idea how deeply he needed to hear words like that.

Sometimes, it is that simple.

Today, look at everyone like they are wearing that sticky note - because we all desperately need to know it.

Let me tell you know - You are AWESOME!
